Well done to Colaiste Cill Mhantain for initiating a step challenge during January and February 21. It was a great way to encourage students to move away from their screens and keep up their fitness, all within the 5k limits, of course.
To take part, students and teachers had to download the MyLife App by Irish Life which recorded their steps using their phone or smartwatch.
At the end of the first week, 3 million steps were logged. By the halfway point, students and teachers had recorded 6 million steps. With just one week to go 11,690,518 steps were on the clock and competition for first place was mounting with two second year students vying for the lead. Well done to Aoibhe Mitchell who was the ultimate winner, recording over a whopping 683,000 steps over the four weeks. Are we right in thinking Aoibhe runs for local athletics club, Inbhear Dee?
We look forward to seeing Aoibhe soon in The Sports Room with her voucher. Time for a new pair of runners I think! Alternatively, as with any of you who have vouchers for The Sports Room and can’t come into the shop right now, feel free to phone us and we can process your voucher over the phone and get your order out to you.
It was great to see everyone at CCM getting out and active over the early months of the year, hopefully the fresh air and exercise helped in some way in these tough times. Well done to all involved. Keep it going!
