It’s difficult to keep the feet dry when running in the rain. Wear a good pair of running socks, like Hilly. They dry quickly and pull the moisture away from your feet. Many of them have double layers for extra protection, so you don’t get blisters. Don’t wear your favourite and best runners when you head out in the rain – throw on your older pair, that you don’t mind getting wet. When you get home, stuff them with newspaper and leave them to dry naturally. This will stop them getting smelly too.
If you like listening to music while you run, you’ll want something to keep your phone dry. Try a water-resistant arm band for your phone. Aftershokz headphones are water resistant so perfect for running in the rain.
Aeropex and Xtrainerz are both waterproof and can be used in the rain, for watersports, and everything in between! However, OpenMove, Air, Titanium, and Bluez 2S are all IP-55 certified, making them water-resistant, but not waterproof. While some moisture is okay, it’s not a good idea to pop them in a bucket of water. Likewise, if you think you’re going to be caught in a deluge of rain with no hat or hood and you’re not using the Aeropex or Xtrainerz, maybe leave them behind. Did you know, as Aftershokz headphones are water-resistant, they are also easily sanitised down? Good to know in this Covid times.
Make sure when you run in the rain that your run gear has hi-vis elements to it – reflective logos or strips will all help. If you’re running in the dark, try a headlamp. Ledlenser offer a range of lumen to suit your needs.
