Training for a 5k Run
There’s so much chat in the New Year about fitness resolutions. What with Operation Transformation and advertisements everywhere about healthy lifestyle and healthy eating, it’s hard not to get caught up in the buzz. And that’s a good thing! Perhaps you’re thinking about getting out and getting fit? Mel Rawl, a qualified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, outlines what you can expect from her 0-5k running classes in Wicklow Town.
When and Where?
The running classes take place twice weekly in Wicklow Town Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7.30 and they follow a couch to 5k style programme. The meeting point is AIB Carpark in Wicklow Town.
What Can You Expect?
It’s a very relaxed and friendly class with focus on the distance more than the speed. Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace as everyone has different fitness levels.
This class is very social , lots of great friendships have been made between some of the ladies. We celebrate everyone’s achievements. We finish at the end of every 8 weeks with an official 5k which is a great goal to have.
Setting Your Goals
Some of the ladies might only want to get to 5k so they can keep fit and go for a run with their friends. Other ladies have gone on to run 10k’s and lots have done half marathons there are 2 ladies that started in this class and have ran the Dublin Marathon.
The classes are run by Mel Rawl a qualified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. Mel is also a CrossFit Coach.
